  1. In dvd2avi i set track number 1 then dolby digital to decode, the video to RGB 24bit(don't know if i'm supposed to do this!).When i use TMPGenc then author and burn back to DVD-R, my standalone player doesn't show the dolby digital logo on the front display. As i don't have DD, i was wondering if it has been encoded on the disc, or have i done something wrong?

  2. It is likely that your DVD authoring software does not support Dolby Digital audio. Most entry level programs dont. They either re-encode MPEG audio to PCM, or keep the MPEG audio on the DVD.

SpruceUp will let you create a DVD with Dolby Digital audio. You have to have the dolby digital in a separate file from your MPEG 2 video. They should have the same name, but one M2V and the other AC3 file extensions. You could use TMPGenc to demux the audio out of the video stream.

SpruceUp is no longer available for purchase, but you can still download the demo version - and there are ways to unlock it "out there" if you do a little searching (please don't ask me where - lost the link). Not that I am condoning software piracy or anything - but, if they don't want to sell it to me any more, what's a guy to do.
