I have transfered a Hi8 tape to my system (using digital8 > firewire) the AVI sounds great. Used TPMEG to convert to MPEG2 for buring on DVD.
My setting was, DVD NTSC (MPEG-2 720x480 29.97fps CBR 4100kbps, Layer-2 48000Hz 384kbps) using Toolame and ssrc-1.29 sample converter for the audio. My AVI sounds fine but the Mpeg sounds hissy and crappy. This is a concert that runs 2 hours 11 minutes and 5 secs and I want the BEST sound possible. I plan on converting several other concerts (from both laserdisc, and camcorder footage) and have not found any "newbie" type how-to that explains all the external decoders or a step by step for the best sound.
I use/have Demo Spruce, ULead Movie Factory (Full w/latest patch), plus can download anything else I might need. (Hopefully download)
Thanks in advance,
