HI, I have captured a VHS tape video from a VCR using Virtualdub2 and a composite cable. The result is that all the objects in the video (persons, trees, numbers) present streaks and are not sharp. My question how to resolve this problem before launching the Virtualdb2 video capture.
This is my system configuration : Windows 10, family version, 64 bits.
Hardware : USB-live 2 analog video digitzer (Hauppauge)
This is my Virtualdub2 configuration and options : build 44282; output avi file; video source : video composite; capture filter : video standard: SECAM_B (french norm); compression : Lagarith lossless codec : YUY2 mode and using with using mulitthreading and prevent upsampling options; custom video format : 720X576xUYVY; audio 48K/16/s.
Please find atteched file which shows the problem indicated with red arrows.
Can somebody helps me.
Best regards.
M.L

You have an interlaced video source. Comb artifacts like that are normal when viewed as progressive. You need to treat the video as interlaced and deinterlace at playback.
-
But ONLY if needed! Never deinterlace "just because", but for specific purposes.
- If viewing on a TV, or for archives, leave it interlaced.
- For streaming like Youtube, progressive displays, you must deinterlace.
Also only do so with a good method like QTGMC.
Also remember to mask overscan noise, never crop.
The OP seems to be viewing with a blended deinterlace player.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

in Virtualdub, to get an idea what the deinterlaced video will look like add the BobDoubler or Deinterlace filter -- the output window will show the deinterlaced result.
