Hi! I have been using WinXP Pro for some time now. One thing that has really put me off all along is that certain functions of previous versions of Windows have either been removed or hidden. In Win95 I could right click on a media file, go to Properties and find out every conceivable thing there was to know about it. One immediate change I noticed was that I could no longer see anything about an MPEG file in the Properties | Summary tab. There would just be a list of empty fields shown in WinXP Pro. But at least I could see the Summary Properties in AVI files, so it was no big deal.
Recently I had a problem where I could not access a folder on my PC, even though I had created it. I was finally able to fix that so now I have permission to access the folder. But now when I try to check Properties | Summary in an AVI file there is a message that reads "Summary properties are unavailable for the selected source(s)".
One thing I had noticed before is that whenever I checked an AVI file, there had been only two tabs, General and Summary. Now though, there is a third tab in between them that reads Security. I do have access to Administrative tasks in WinXP Pro. Can someone please tell me how to view the full Summary Properties of any and all media files in WinXP Pro? Thanks a lot!
