Has anyone experience this? I did a windows update and it thinks TV Wonder PCI is a AVerMedia. The driver recommended for it was AVerMedia Techonologies Conexant Media Driver Version 5.3.5.0.

only had this problem when I installed (tried) some tweaked wdm drivers, ie. the ones at iulabs.com

using the existing driver didn't work for me. tv tuner would hang trying to load.. or woulda taken days to load.
i tried the sourceforge drivers, but they also detected my card as a aver-whatever. the uninstall old drivers didn't work either.
in the end, I just deleted windows, renamed program files and documents and settings, and reinstalled (not format, that's rarely necessary) since it was alot faster for me (3 hours for 100% application install) after lots of practice.
what you would have to do is try the sourceforge uninstall old drivers.
check the .inf files in the 3rd party drivers and make sure any installed, regged, or registry entries are removed.
find any reference to BT8* in registry, system files, system32, and control panel/hardware and delete them.
same with aver* in the things above.
then can try and force windows into detecting or installing the correct drivers.
