I need some help. We are using Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 and the project is taking a long time to render. Like 15 hours. Trying some different things, I noticed if I exported to mpeg, it thought the project was 3 hours long. The video stuff we have added is only approx. 38 minutes long. Another indicator that something is amiss is when I hit the home key I go to the beginning and when I hit the end key I am taken out to the 3 hour mark.
Any ideas on why it thinks the project is so long? How can I make it realize my project is only 38 minutes long.
Thanks in Advance,
Greg

I figured it out. Yeah...
I used the "Go To Next Edit Point" and found that there were some small clips that you could not see when you were zoomed out. Once I deleted these the project length changed to the correct length. -
I have seen that scenario with a Xvid or Divx file with MP3 VBR (Variable Bitrate) audio being converted to MPEG. Some MPEG encoders respond that way. But even without that, I suspect there is a problem with your files that Premiere is having difficulty with. Try it with another file that is known good and see if that works. If so, that points back to the file itself. If you do have VBR audio, I would convert it to CBR (Constant Bitrate) audio and see if that helps.
You can also drop the original file into Gspot and see if it shows VBR audio to the lower left of the screen. It should also tell your other information about the file.
EDIT: I see you found a solution. -
At the top of the video timeline, there should be a project bar. It sounds like it's stretched way beyond the end of the actual intended project. If you use the magnifying glass thing to shrink the timeline down so you can see all of it, you should be able to drag the end marker of the project until it lines up with the end of the video.
The grey bar at the top of the timeline (next to where it says DVD marker) needs to end at the same place as the last bit of video. If it isn't, drag the end of it until it does.
If this solves the problem, please let us know -
The end of the project marker was set correctly. Like in your picture. That was the frustrating part. But I think what happened was the project was a lot longer and my wife shortened it up a bit and when she removed stuff in the middle and pulled in the stuff at the end some of here really short clips that were in then second video track got left out at the 1 hr, 2hr, and 3hr points. There were very short clips that you couldn't see when you were zoomed out at a scaling that would show you the beginning to the 3hr mark. You needed to be zoomed in but then it tried your patience because it was hard to scroll to the right because after 20 - 30 clicks I would just give up after not seeing anything.
The key was moving to the end of the project, zooming in and then using the "Go to next edit point" button.
Thanks for the suggestions.
