    Hello,

    Whilst recording footage from the N64, the hauppage is having trouble recording all the audio clearly.
    Certain high tones or loud noises get very distorted. I think this because the audio is too loud for the hardware/software too handle.

    My question was: is there a way, perhaps in the registry, to adjust the volume of the composite audio cables?
    Or is there another way to record the audio without it distorting?

    No but you could try an RCA to Optical Audio Converter
