    ì connected my camera to a hauppauge theatres svideo port. but i dont get audio.
    can i even get audio through svideo?
    or do i have to plug the camera directly to the soundcards in-port?

    No, you cannot get audio via the SVHS connection, that only a video connection.

    That is correct; the 4 conductors of an S-Video cable are:

    1 - Luma signal (the black and white part)
    2 - Luma ground
    3 - Chroma signal (the color part)
    4 - Chroma ground
