virtualdub and subtitles

hi everybody.
i want to ask one thing.
when i watching divx or mpeg with subtitles, in players is black box under picture and there are subtitles.
but if i convert divx->virtualdub->tmpgenc subtitles are in picture.
is some methods how can i place subtitles in vdub under picture?

hi,

the method i use

a. in Vdub, after video been loaded and as last filter VobSub is (i use ver.2.09) to be loaded. after sub been indexed i normally lower the position of sub by entering a value of for example -18 ( or by licking downward pointing arrow under the red square to desired value).

b. check the result by playing the clip in vdub.

c. if you intend to watch the video on tv, you should take care that the lowest part of the text should be above 16 pixels or more from lower edge of black bar; otherwise it become (partially) hidden.

my mistake....i didnt write which tools i'm using (vdub,tmgenc, subtitles ssa(or any else but i haven't got sub and ifo))

i think the same method but i'm trying use textvobsub and it not allow to use <0 numbers.
I see to avery lee subtitler, but it not display correctly some symbols in slovak language.

hi,

i have tried to use other methods too to put permanent sub to my vcd/svcd from dvd rip without success except vobsub.

now i realize that you start from divx that i don't have experience of, sorry.

but i think the basic idea is the same: to play around with vdub's filters until you get the sub where you want it on screen.
