  1. Hi, I have a newbie question please to anyone that would be kind enough to help me.
I have a video, I want a program that would automatically put subtitles to the video. I would presume the subtitles would not be 100 percent accurate so I would need a subtitle editor as part of the program. I also would want the subtitles in different languages. Does such a program exist? Could anyone recommend anything to help me do this please?

    Thank You

  2. Does such a program exist?
    No.

You might find the subtitles at one of the many subtitle sites.

In case you need other languages Subtitle Edit uses Google to translate which brings you half-way there. Rest is just hard work.

Do you mean voice recognition? I don't know about such software especially free. Probably some online video services can add subtitles to video when you upload video there. But doubt all languages are supported. YT should be able to do this probably for english. Software for free is happy to do optical recognition of bitmap oriented subtitles. Once you have subtitles and their timing, you can use translate feature inside those programs for example in subtitle edit, but it is very, very not accurate translation. Probably best for English <> Spanish translate, but for more exotic, svk, slo, hun very bad. Lot of assistance is needed in this case.

  5. Youtube has such a feature. Basically you would upload your video, then download the Youtube automatic captions (youtube-dl --write-auto-sub) and then edit them locally using e.g. Subtitle Edit or Aegisub.

  6. Thanks, looking at this it seems youtube has an automatic feature to edit the subtitles so I don't think a download is needed. I need to find out now if when changing the subtitles it changes it in other languages automatically as well. Thanks for your help
