I'm using VirutalDub to do simple cut and join of Type-1 DV files and it saves as Type-2. The Type-2 DV file has no issues but sometimes after converting it to MP4 using Handbrake, the MP4 video and audio goes out of sync. My solution is to convert the Type-2 DV to Type-1 and this solves the problem.
Is there a simple cut and join software that can save as Type-1 DV files (direct stream copy of video and audio)? So I can skip the conversion step.

There is Avidemux but it used to support only v2. But for loseless conversion you can use https://www.videohelp.com/software/Canopus-DV-File-Converter
which can convert between 1 and 2 and otherway round. It is 15 years old program, but at least on XP is it working. Maybe Avidemux added support for v1 now, but I dont know. Just try it.
