I copy using Smart ripper, convert using DVD2AVI and then use TMPGEnc to finish. Not much faster but it's probably the fastest way to convert DVD to VCD. To go to SVCD, you might want to try DVD2SVCD.
ALSO WHEN YOU USE THE OPTION TO MERGE VOB, DO YOU NOTICE ONLY 1 VOB FILE RATHER THAN 3 OR 4 INDIVIDUAL FILES? VOB FILES ARE ALWAYS 1GB MAX.
(PS shouting is considered rude so please don't use cap lock key next time.) -
hi i use DVDX and CCE 2.5 SP Adobe premier Plugin. It takes me 2hrs 34 min to encode the File to a VCD MPEG files for a 1hr 53 min movie. ie ratrace movie. I use CBR 1450 bitrate as it exactly fits in 2 CDS. As far as my testing over the past 11/2 years this is the fastest and best method i can find
