i cant find this...but i did get submux. how in the worl ddo i use it. it sez something about a subtitle image.
-
nevermind i just figured it out except for 1 thing. If i use tmpgenc to create a source range file (half movie) can i mix in subtitles with that part using an image from the whole movie?
-
are you thinking of the same 10 meg .sub file i am? because i can only open this in a hex editor. i split my movie into 3 parts but i dunno where to split the .sub.
-
No, I expected a series of .bmp and a .sub, that is a text file, that refers to the .bmp's.
How did you create the subtitles ? -
I got subrip but what options do i press (.bmp, text via OCR, .SUP, or only Subpictures). what I-author mode?
-
ok lemme describe my situation EXACTLY so that someone can tell me EXACTLY what to do:
I ripped the movie Spy Game. Since i am all into quality i spplit it into 3 encoded SVCD mpeg files. Now i tried frameserving w/ the Vob Sub plugin for Virtualdub but that wud only gimme permanent subs. What should I do EXACTLY to get soft subtitles (tell me all options to press and such)? -

You then use submux to mix in the subtitles.
At this point I would seriously suggest you look at DVD2SVCD, it does all this automatically and can now be set up to use completely free tools. I actually use it to save me the hassle of all these individual steps. -
i followed the first part of the guide and got the subs sucesfully.

When you rip the subs with SubRip select "save sub pics as bmp". Press Start, select a dir where to save the .bmp's.
When the next configuration dialog pops up select "preset Philips" an "auto sort colors 8 bits".
Then it rips the subs. After it is finished select Output format > split output file. Set start and end time. Then select Output format > set output format > Philips SVCD disigner, convert.
Then select file > save as *part1.sub. Save.
Go back to output format > split output file. Set start and end time. Then select Output format > set output format > Philips SVCD disigner, convert.
Then select file > save as *part2.sub. Save, etc. etc.
My suggestion above to edit the sub file with a text editor is not that good, since you would have to edit all times manually.
After all is done mux the *.sub to the .mpg with submux and pray that your DVD player support SVCD subtitles. -
okay i muxed the sucessfully, submux only skipped blanks images. how can i test if they work and are soft. windvd gives no options for subtitles and my phillips dvd 711 (supports subs) gives me 4 chioces of subs (max of SVCD) but none work. am i missing something here?
-
err yeah doing nothing didnt work. somebody help. my input file was 651 mb and the output with the subs was 655mb. Tha should be the subs right? but they dont show up...not on my player or windvd.
