  1. Please help me find a guide to MKVToolNix on creating chapters. I have home movies on DVD that I am trying to get on my PLEX server.
I used MakeMKV to create a media file. I want to cut up into individual chapters without any conversion. That way I have smaller chunks of the movie indexed on the PLEX server.

MKVToolNix shows chapters available but I just don't know the procedure to get them split up and written to hard drive.

I want the best possible video file I can get.

Thanks for any help with this.

If you don't need exact chapters use MKV Chapterizer, you can drag and drop multiple mkv files at once and set whatever chapter interval minutes.

  4. Thanks for the info. The mkv file was created from a DVD originally. The DVD has multiple videos of holidays. I want to split these into separate files. ie Easter, July 4th, Thanksgiving, etc. That way I can label them on the PLEX server as such.. would that program allow me to do that??

  5. Open mkv file in MKVToolNix GUI, go "Output" tab, "Split mode:" "before chapters" and enter "all" in the field below the selection box. "Start muxing". (Not 100% frame accurate, but for a DVD probably precise to about 1s.)

With ums you don't need to split the movies physically,it will split them software based on the chapters.
