Dolby pro logic is an Analog surround sound sound system giving 4 channel output. The surround info is encoded somehow onto the standard analog stereo signal. So if you rip a DVD with pro-logic sound this should be preserved thru the conversion process. In oder to get Dolby Digital 5.1 you would need to multiplex your VCD/SVCD with the digital soundtrack taken straight from the DVD. This is not standards compliant for VCD/SVCD and your player may not work with it but I have heard of a number of people having success with this. Search the form and howtos for more info or try doom9.org for guides and info.
