  1. Hey sup!

So I have a VIDEO_TS folder on my computer that I copied from a DVD and I'm using VirtualDub 1.10.4 (x64) to open the .VOB files (and yes I'm using MPEG2 filter).

So I go to the filter and select resize and tick the "Compute height from ratio" box. Then I write 4:3 (because smh the VOB file is in 1:1 maybe it's the dvd recorder's fault).

I export the video and it gives me a 16:9 video.

How do I convert it to 4:3?

What codec did you use? Did you specify an AR setting in the codec?

VOB files are never 1:1 anything. What was the display aspect ratio of your source? DVD are always either 4:3 or 16:9 DAR.

  3. I used XviD (and I completely forgot the settings menu!)

I said 1:1 because when I opened straight from the DVD to VLC Media Player it gave a 1:1 AR and I had to manually change the aspect ratio on VLC. The same happens in VirtualDub. Whilst opening it shows a preview of a 1:1 AR but I think this is insignificant.
I'll just tweak the codec settings and I'll say something later.
