I’m working with virtual dub and Ati 500 usb as mu capture device. In virtual dub at 1st I didn’t have any issues however now when I’m making’s a updating like what type of device I have or something to that affect VD freezes up.Then I need to reboot my PC. I’m hoping i can use the Ati 500 usb for my capture device. Is there a workaround this issues. If not will I be able to use my elgato usb as my device. I saw some YouTube videos that used the Ati 500 and he mentioned it is a really good capture device. Any sort I would appreciate.

    Thank you

Try AmarecTV instead of Vdub. But the system shouldn't crash, sounds like a Windows configuration/driver or something in the USB stack.
Does this device have its own drivers? Where did you them from?

I assume you mean ATI 600 USB? I see you mentioned using one in a thread last month, and from your thread in the other subforum I see you're using Win10 x64.

My first thought is to try a different USB port. On a desktop, especially try a back port instead of front one. Try to avoid a USB hub (some are internal). Try USB 3.0 port vs USB 2.0 port; the older port may actually work better for this USB 2.0 device -- or the newer one could.

    ---

    ATI 500 doesn't exist.

    ATI chipsets:
    • Theatre 100 = Rage Theatre (AGP)
    • Theatre 200 (AGP, rare OEM PCI, rare USB)
    • Theatre 550 (PCI and PCIe only)
    • Theatre 600 (PCI and PCIe only)
    • Theatre 650 (PCI, PCIe, USB)
    • Theatre 750 (PCIe, USB)
    Non-ATI chipset:
    • WDM 2883: TI TVP5150 + eMPIA EM2883
= "ATI 600 USB" (nickname on forums; officially branded ATI TV Wonder 600 USB 2.0)

Hi Brad & all who Helped

I was able to change to a different USB and it is capturing the video in VirtualDub correctly however I keep getting this missing Codec message.

    missing codec

this item was encoded in a format that's not supported. 0xc00d5212
When I open the video I can hear audio but no video.

Any suggestions how to fix this so i can see video?

I tried to fix with these commands:

    sfc /scannow
    sfc /scanfile=c:\windows\system32\ieframe.dll
    sfc /verifyfile=c:\windows\system32\ieframe.dll

    assoc
    chkdsk

    but message still appears.

    Thank you

I don't see any obvious problems in your report. Perhaps you should upoad 15 seconds or so from your original capture.
Something with steady movement that shows the problem

It just means cut a short clip from your capture and post it here.
You can use Avidemux to extract a clip. Use the A and B buttons to set the cut-in and cut-out points,
then the button above to save the clip.
Then use the "Upload files/Manage attachments" button to upload it to the forum

"Changed the video to VLC"? What does that mean?

Is it possible you're trying to capture copy-protected content, such as a VHS tape with Macrovision? The ATI 600 drivers will break the video into garbled strips in that case, while audio continues.
