    Hi all,

I am capturing 1440 1080 Mpeg off my Canon Vixia HV40, then editing in Wondershare Ultimate Video Converter and outputing to MP4. I am subsequently importing the MP4 files into VirtualDub filtering with Deshaker. The resulting files are saved in the AVI format. I burn this file as a DVD using the highest quality settings possible. I am a stickler for quality. Is my editing sequence the best way for me to go to output the highest possible quality DVD?

    Thanks!

  2. No. VirtualDub will accept HDV files directly. No need to degrade them to mp4.

It's possible your AVIs can then be fed directly into your DVD authoring program, whatever that may be. (AVStoDVD is a good one.)

WAY too many quality-killing steps in there if you ask me.

capture the files directly over firewire to .m2t with hdvsplit. that way it's identical to what's on the tape. use those file for editing. they are most likely 30i so you want to keep them interlaced and output dvd spec 30i mpeg-2 to use with an authoring program to make vobs, etc.
