  1. Hi everyone. I'm Artemis. New in the forum.
I've bee trying to get an used VHS camera recorder from the 80s, which i got. The wonderful Panasonic Omnimovie VHS Newvycon.
I just bought from EBAY and it worked wonderful for a few minutes. I tried to filmed me, which i did very succesfully, i put the virgin tape, everything was fine.

The problem started when i began trying vhs movies i had - with this camera you can also watch your own vhs films - And they all were fuzzy, which i don't understand. but the biggest problem of all is that the last vhs i tried is now inside the camera and the camera SHUTS DOWN ON ITS OWN. i tried to re-start it and it shuts down again every 5 seconds, with the tape rolling.

So basically now it's the same thing
    1) I turn on the camera,
    2) It makes some sounds, like moving the tape, everything is working
    3) It shuts down, after 5 seconds

I just don't know whato do. I'm desperate. I just got it and i seriously don't know what's wrong with it. Maybe some cool expert here can help me out. I appreciate it.

I doubt it's worth to fix this very old camera.

    Couple of common possibilities:
    Water/Humidity (not too likely)
    Overheating
    Tape jam (quite likely)

If the last, there was an old trick that would sometimes work-power up the cam and immediately/already have the eject button held down.

Otherwise, you will have to dismantle the cam in order to retrieve the tape. Regardless, that cam isn't worth the effort to fix.

Certainly something that could be of interest for collectors.

In that case you would leave it exposed permanently in some glass cabinet.

If however your intent was to actually use this then you just made a very bad buying decision.

Out of curiosity how much did you pay for this?
