4K uploads to YouTube would take way too long. My upload speed is .95 Mbps according to Speedtest.net.

Upload as 4K. Let those who have a 4K capable monitor or TV see it in all it's glory.

PS and I'm not one of them.

That means you can easily upload a 10-15 minute 4K video overnight!

I don't use YouTube much anymore, but If I did, I'd still only upload 1080p max because youtube re-encoding sucks anyway..............
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........

Not really. Based on personal experience, if an upload or download takes all night, chances are good that it will fail.

  8. Youtube names for rendering quality 1080p, 4k etc. are just labels, that is how one have to look at it, just names, they have to use something, they might just simply use something like the good, bad and ugly , or label that states actual bitrate that was distributed would be a way but that is not readable by general public.
Some type of videos do not get even close to getting bitrates they need to keep that promise label (1080p, 4k),...., not complaining just stating, ..., it is a start as always, different codec perhaps improve it a bit, but anyway I doubt that 4k streams would get over 20 Mbit/s on Youtube and still keep it on free basis ... It has to be paid for in any way, along the way ... I think I read YouTube does not have much profit if I remember correctly, certainly they would not pump up even more money to it then ...
