I have to encode some Mpeg2 like this:

I need some info about the interlaced.......... i have load this file on xvid4psp 5.10.346.0 and wait to analizing for interlace but nothing it's founded.. i have posted a screenshot here:

This screenshot it's related to previous episode i have posted the mediainfo... but for all episode i obtain the same result after auto-analizing of interlaced or not.....
I already have tryed to convert another similar file (the first episode) whit this auto detected setting for interlace and my pc have completed the encoding in about 40minutes.
At this point........ you can suggest to me to add manually a de-interlace ?? Or it's not needed ?? I have try to watch the first .avi and i thinks the quality it's good on my tv... but if in next episode i can obtain a better result only after added manually de-interlace filter suggest to me...

You have not indicated that you see any interlacing artifacts during playback. Do you? You can cut out a short section with VideoRedo and post it if you want others to look.

Lol...... you are absolutely right.... i have tryed to watch the source and i don't look artifacts or similar but i'm not a expert and I think I can make mistakes in evaluating this source
(At this point i thinks i have used the wrong section... i can open this on newbie section for example).
Otherwise yes..... i can create this parts and for example load/upload on some file hosting service... ok ??
One minutes ?? Two minutes ?? 5 minutes ?? Or it's enought about 30 seconds im mpeg 2 ?

I have tryed to cut a 2minutes of video from beginning... it's a 138MB Files.
My Upload Speed (Italian ADSL) it's very shit.... it's for you it's same a less duration it's better
Otherwise i need to use a file hosting for make possibly to you to watch the real source.... because if i upload on youtube (for example) i don't thinks you can verify the original source because youtube make a conversion before to publish the video...

10 seconds with steady movement will be plenty. We don't need much to tell if it's interlaced or not.

Why don't you use videohelp.com as a host ?
Content is not interlaced . Often the content will tell you right away what it should be. An American TV show / Drama / Sitcom will usually not be interlaced
Here is a cut sample in case anyone doesn't want do download the unecessary 138MB from a crappy host
(ignore the 1st duplicate, it was from the way sample was cut - the duplicate isn't there in the larger file) -
The video is encoded interlaced but the content of the frames is progressive. You can treat it as progressive video.

Ah... on option of xvid4psp i have raise the value to 25% of entire files for analizing the interlace........ i take a little more wait when i load the file but i thinks it's better if in some case i need to convert a source interlaced in next future. -
I have also a little problems whit this 05.mpeg and i can't understand what's appened during encoding:
I have choose to use about 1500bitrate on encoder settings................ and respect a size of output file to 240MB...... but look the mediainfo!
Because the bitrate using it's 1640 ??

Then it's not as I speculated. Are you using the XviD that comes with AutoGK? Also, sometimes oversized AVIs can result from just installing a new XviD without removing the old one. My next suggestion would be to use Add/Remove Programs to completely remove the old XviD before then installing a new one. especially if you install the one included with AutoGK. And if using AutoGK you should use the one that's included.

Wait... i need to explain. I have this little trouble only whit this 05.mpeg...... i have also encoded the remain 9 episodes and the filesize has ben respected whitout problems
It's only about 15MB much bigger........ i have installed the GK whitout the codec pack (i use K-Lite Codec Pack installed) and i never installed AutoGK, on this PC i have previously installed:
- MeGUI : I using it for x264
- At in this last 5 days i have first installed Xvid4PSP and yesterday this GK whitout the codec pack (http://sourceforge.net/projects/gordianknot/files/Gordian%20Knot%20Codec%20Pack/GK%20C...p.exe/download) i not installed the codec pack just for not install double codec....

Why do you so concerned that one file turns out a little larger than the others? Xvid simply misses the requested bitrate on occasion. If it bothers you so much request a lower bitrate so when it comes out oversized it matches what you really want.

Infact the strange situation it's all other episodes (01..02..03.. 10 in mpeg2) it's all ok... the desidered bitrate and filesize i choose was respected
Only whit this 05.mpeg i have this little problems... i have tryed to encoding two times whit xvid4psp and one time whit GK and in all cases i obtain a filesize about 14/15MB larger than desired and i don't understand becouse
I'm just trying to figure out if it's an error in the encoding phase or if it's a my error on encoder setting
I want to learn and explore every secret of xvid encoding

That would have been my next suggestion as well - if this is the only one ever to have had the problem, just lower the requested output size by the necessary amount. Also, I don't (didn't, when I used to use XviD) allow for quant 1. Two was my minimum as quant 1 is used only to bloat the file size because people sometimes complained about undersized encodes and the developers got tired of it.

mmmmmmmmmmmm...... i thinks i can try...... for example if the desidered bitrate calculated for 240B it's 1526. After encoding it's complete the final used encoding it's 1624 (255MB indesidered filesize) i can try to set the bitrate to 1624-1526 = 98.. i can set the bitrate to 1428.....

It's this two or three hours... i try... re-try..... and re-tryed again and again using GK for encoding 05.mpeg to XVID whit exact filesize to 240MB!

I don't understand your obsession for getting them all the same size. By doing that they're not even of equal quality because different videos compress differently. If it were I, I'd make them all for quant 3 and some will be larger, some smaller in size, but all will have the same quality. The encoding will finish much faster as well.

On GK i can choose manually i thinks right ? But on xvid4psp i have choose a profile of "Avi Hardware HD" -> 2P Xvid Extreme -> and i have change the bitrate to obtain the estimate filesize......... i need to watch how i can change the quant....

I have also found some information..... like K-Lite Codec Pack on my Windows 7 i have installed a version 1.4.0 developer of xvid codec.......... at this point i thinks xvid4psp using a standalone xvid codec (i thinks using xvidencraw.exe) and not the xvid installed on system but GK using it.
At this point i thinks the bitrate calculator on GK i thinks it's not accurated because it's developed whit a "old" version of xvid codec and it's possibly i whit a newest version i can obtain a smallest or better compression.......Last edited by DjDiabolik; 16th Mar 2015 at 18:09.

I haven't used Xvid4PSP in a long time and the version I have installed is old. But after selecting an Xvid preset go to the encoder settings dialog and look for Encoding Mode. Set it to Constant Quality. You should then see a Quality (Q) settings. Try 3.0. That's pretty much transparent at normal playback speed but if you look at enlarged still frames you'll see some block artifacts. Going down to 2 will get rid of those block artifacts but the file size will increase substantially. Going to higher values will lower the quality and give smaller file sizes. Note that Xvid does not obey the profile/level limitations when working in target quantizer mode. So bitrates might turn out too high for some old devices, etc.

I have re-try to use xvid4psp whit same profile i obtain the first 15MB bigger file. This time i have try 240 - 15 and set the filesize to 225MB and i have obtain (after about 40minutes) this:

Face it, Xvid sometimes misses the requested bitrate. I don't think anybody knows why, including the developers.

I don't know because this appened (it's a graphical bug ??? )........ but i thinks i have found the correct way to configure them correctly:
- I need the first time to put a value in bitrate...... an look the MB value....
- After that change a little the value of MB whit up/down arrow...
- Finally, before to start the encoding, goes to preview and click on Save&Encoding and control if the desider filesize and bitrate it's been respected!
In this case the expended filesize it's reported to 224MB for only video track.. but after the two pass i obtain a perfectly 221MB (also if obtain a 224MB it's right otherwise) and 221+19 of mp3 it's 240MB!!
I continue to not understand because only this 05.mpeg have reported and create all this trouble but this time...
