  1. Hi all,

I just bought a brand new JVC BR-S525U S-VHS deck on eBay for a song in order to do some transferring from VHS to hard drive, but I am having trouble finding a cable for the JVC proprietary output. I need a Y/C 358 (JVC 358 or reportedly a EIAJ 7-pin) to 4-pin s-video cable and I'm willing to pay a reasonable price for it.

    Can anyone help me out?

    Thanks.

    I live in Houston, TX.

*EDIT* Sorry, this post probably belongs in Newbie/General Discussions.

    Brand new?

They were produced in the 90s!

How much did you pay for it?

With respect to the connector, you may have big trouble finding that!

Did you ask the place you bought it from?

  5. $199 but the shipping is about $125 because it's from Ontario.

And actually I haven't technically bought it yet because I won the auction but haven't paid yet since the seller was supposed to check out a couple of things for me first.

  6. No, I didn't ask the seller. He (or she) doesn't seem to know much about video decks.

    (scroll down the page)

The seller said it was stored in a laboratory. Part of the reason I got it is for the head-switching noise masking feature, as it's reportedly one of only a few decks that have that feature. http://avaa.bavc.org/artifactatlas/index.php/Head_Switching_Noise

According to my research, it seems that every BR-S525U came with a TBC but the seller's supposed to check that out for me before I go through with the transaction. And apparently some BR-S525U's came with TBCs without NR, which I'd kind of prefer because I can do the NR later on if it's even necessary and I'd like them not to be tied together.

I bought my cable from B&H for $25 + shipping in 2013, but it's apparently no longer available.

A Google search for the part number (S4P-S7P-6HR) turns up an expensive Alibaba listing and not much else.

  10. vaporeon, I don't suppose you'd be willing to part with yours for $30?
