    Hi all -
quick question... A friend of mine recently told me that he had some s/w that allows him copy dvds directly onto a blank dvd using his dvd-ROM and his cd-rw. However, he doesn't remember the name of the s/w. Has anyone here ever heard of this. I did not think it was even possible but he says he used it a few times and it worked fine... He stopped using for quite a while because the price of blank dvds at the time were too high.

  2. First of all you can't burn to dvd with a cd burner you NEED a dvd burner. If you do however have a dvd burner all that's needed is decss or some such software. If you want to rip to cd however there are several ways, which you will find in the dvd rip section of the site.

yeah I'm quite familiar with ripping and then burning to vcd, xvcd, svcd etc. I also didn't think it was possible but my friend (who is definitly not an idiot) said that he did it successfully more than ONCE. The only reason he stopped doing it for awhile is because of the price of blank DVDs.
