I've picked up some WMV files online and would like to burn VCDs of them. How can I convert them to MPEG-1 format? I've tried Premier 6, Roxio 5, and Ulead DVD Movie Factory.
Is there a codec for this or has someone found an easy way to do it?
I did come across a long, convoluted way to do it using GraphEdit from the Microsoft DirectX 8 SDK, but that sounds like a real pain in the butt.
Any and all help will be appreciated.

Yeah there's an easier way. I did the same a while ago. Get TMPGEnc, this will encode them into Mpeg. You have to load each one into TMPGEnc and adjust the settings each time, when you have loads it's a pain.
You will have to mess around with the settings i.e source aspect ratio, as I simply converted to Mpeg for my viewing on my pc. Encode some small clips at 4:3 and 16:9 and see which looks best.
Mine look great but I haven't done it for standalone.

Thanks for the info!
I'm running TMPGenc right now and it seems to be working. I'll play with the settings and see what works best for me. I do plan to burn them to VCD so I can watch on TV.
When I figure out what settings work best, I'll post that info.
