    what's a player that plays mpeg4 files? quicktime?

    As long as you have the Mpeg 4 codec installed "Anything" will play it, including the default Media Player that comes with Windows.

    thanks, but does this work an avi file? the file i dl is not divx but rather avi

    yes as long as you have the correct codec installed, anything will play the AVI MPG WMV ASF MP3 etc etc
