Okay, this is going to make me look REALLY stupid, but I'm afraid I don't have any choice (for both asking and actually being stupid) BUT... here goes...

I'm trying to use the program for extracting the Audio track from a movie that I own and from what I've read it seems like the easiest and most painless way to do that is to use DGIndex. Fine. However when I load the DVD VOBs into the program and choose Demux Audio, the window opens where it shows the progress as it rips the entire DVD. Okay, well, when it was apparently done, I realized that I had absolutely NO idea where the resulting AC3 file ended up! Normally, I THINK in the manual it says that it extracts the Audio to the same directory as the source. BUT... since I am ripping directly from a DVD drive that cannot be possible.

I cannot for the LIFE of me figure out WHERE the hell the extracted Audio is! I've re-read the full manual and I've searched for the answer, and I guess that it likely is so OBVIOUS that no one has actually had to ask about it. But, I sure as heck cannot. If anyone could kindly assist me in my apparent lack of intelligence, that would be very much appreciated. I've looked in the DGIndex folder; I've looked in My Documents and sub folders; I even did a search though my entire 'C' drive for .AC3 and could not find it.

Oh, and BTW, if there happens to be an EASIER, free way to extract the Audio track from a DVD that I own, PLEASE by all means let me know. I just want to extract the audio as is. I can do ANY conversions after the fact, but I just want the original audio track intact if possible.

    Thanks kindly!

  2. Never tried extracting audio from a DVD directly. I just tried it and it generated an error dialog saying it couldn't write the file. Normally, the extracted audio goes in the same folder as the source VOB file(s).

Use "File -> Save Project" instead. It allows you to select a folder for the resulting files. It will create an index file (which you can discard) and demux the audio stream(s).

I use PGCDemux to get audio, video and subtitle streams out of a dvd-video. I only work with unencrypted dvds though.

Hey, thanks to both of you! I'll try both suggestions....

BTW, for now I just downloaded the free trial version of DVD Audio Extractor which worked just fine, but I will definitely do one of these other things in the future.

Also, I just posted a question on the 'DVD Authoring' forum here. Since I now have the AC3 track, it doesn't match the superiour HD video print that I have. I'd REALLY like to mux the two to get the best of both, but the audio that I took from my DVD is 1:35 and the video track runs 1:31. So, there is a 4 minute disparity.

If either of you guys know the easiest way to alter either the video or audio so that they match, please check out the forum where I have posted that question. I sure do appreciate any suggestions that you might have!

    Thank you!!!

  5. Set the video bitrate to 23.976 fps in MMG before muxing the video and AC3 audio. I'm guessing the video is 25 fps. The difference in run times is about right for that.
