dvd recorder problem

does any one know why I can't get the tv guide on screen sometimes it works and sometime it doesn't all the other things come up sometimes it comes on screen but flickers I have pushed all the wires in to but nothing do you thiink it's on it's way out

try unplugging the unit and leave it sit unplugged for about an hour or so.
also please indicate as to what model this dvd recorder is.

try this, with the player powered on hold the channel up and channel down buttons for at least 10 seconds
to factory reset the player.
