Hello everyone,
I'm hoping someone can tell me a little bit more about a certain file on my C: drive which is simply named "trace" with a file extension of ".ini"
It just seems a little strange to have a file on my computer that is named 'trace' and I have no idea how it got there. It says it was created on the 27th of January 2013, so I'm not sure why I haven't noticed it until recently (maybe I did and just didn't think much of it until now). Does anyone have any idea what this could be from? Should I be worried? And if no, then can I delete it?
I've scanned it with Microsoft Security Essentials and it said it was not a threat, but I just wanted to get other people's opinion first before I delete it...
Thanks

	Open it in notepad.exe.

Is there any info in it?

Googling doesn't really shed much light on it:
 https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=trace.ini+file

Rename it before deleting it. If there no effects, then delete it.

I opened it in notepad (that's what it opened in when i double-clicked it anyway), and all I got was this...

 [TRACE]

Should be OK to delete it but rename it like Mike says just in case some program is calling it. But I doubt it.

Okay, I tried renaming it and windows told me that I need to provide administrator permission to rename this file. I am the administrator, but I thought I'd check with you guys first if i should still rename and/or delete it if windows needs an administrator's permission to do so...

 Thanks
