I have created a 30 min DVD file (audio TS , Video TS) of vehicle stunts using SHRINK to rip them from the original DVD discs, and then VideoReDo to edit and join them, with the much appreciated help of you guys on here its turned out well, but id just like to add a few pics into the final edit......
so I want to insert a still (jpeg) of the stunt driver of certain stunts. ie a jpeg to show for 2 or 3 seconds before the clip shows.
How or what program will help me achieve this..........I have to admit Im a lamen and the easier to do the better, and without loss of quality of the film.

AFAIK, it requires a BMP (no jpeg).

Create a 720x480 bmp image (or 720x576 if it's PAL)
Run MuxMan and use the image as the source video to create a new DVD.
Run PgcEdit and open the main DVD.
On the left pane, highlight 'Title1' and on the top menu click 'Title'.
    Click 'Import Title's intro clip'.
Select 'Display still frame' and click 'Continue'.
Select the .ifo of the new DVD.
    Save the DVD.

  3. Yes, it has to be a BMP. Muxman doesn't accept JPGs as input. Also, in the 'Display still frame...' part, don't forget to tell PGCEdit how long you want to display the picture. 10 seconds is the default so if you want it on for less time, be sure and tell it so.

Making it 720x480 (or 720x576 if for PAL) and then having it play in the correct aspect ratio can be tricky. I'll assume the videos for which these pictures will serve as an intro are 4:3. If so, make sure your source JPG is some 1.33:1 ratio (640x480, for example). Crop it down if necessary. And then do a resize but without keeping the aspect ratio. Picture editors will be able to do that (the same time you're converting from JPG to BMP). So, your 640x480 picture gets resized to 720x480 and then saved as a BMP.

If the main video is 16:9, crop the picture down to some 1.78:1 ratio (852x480, for example) before doing the resize to 720x480. And make sure 4:3 or 16:9 are properly set in Muxman before making the DVD of a picture. Just opening the BMP is enough for Muxman. You don't need any audio or chapters or anything else. The main stunt videos remain untouched so there's no loss of quality.

  4. And for your inspiration. I would go about it a bit different. I would:

    - Cut out the (few) clips from your 30 min video. You can do that with VideoReDo.
    - Create small (10-20 sec maybe) transitions with a photo slideshow program using whatever effects availlable there to be placed between the clips.
    - Re-author the DVD with either AVSToDVD or DVDStyler. Since the clips are already DVD compliant no re-encoding will be done, ie no loss of quality.

I made this YouTube video as an example of a transition:

PS: Forgot to mention: In DVDStyler you can use your stills instead of creating transitions
