Has anybody gotten the "new" plug-in to work, that is changing the sampling frequency of the audio instead of dropping frames, to stay in sync? I downloaded the file, but it made no change.
One problem with vdub is that it drops to many frames to stay in sync, not because the PC is not powerful enough, but becuase there is something going on in Vdub.
Using the exact same capture settings, sometimes I get CPU usage of 40% and 1 frame drop per minute, and then 10 mintes later, when doing another capture, I get a CPU load of 80% and a frame drop of 1 per 10 minutes. Why is Vdub behaving so differently from time to time? Rebooting the PC before each capture is no guarantee that the frame drop will be low eighter. I might try to run the audio and video unlocked, and see how far off they get.
Anyway, I would like to see the audio sampling correction filter work to bring down the frame dropping.

I tried this new plugin, and it did not seem to make any difference. It did not keep audio and video in sync, either.
I think I am basically giving up on VirtualDub as a capture program. Last night I tried the trial version of AVI_IO, and it produced a 20 minute capture with 0 frame drops and, as far as I can tell, perfect audio sync. You might want to try it as well: $25.
I still use VirtualDub to filter my video; I'm happy with it, but not overly so. I see performance variations as well. CPU usage fluctuates from near 100% to as low as, say, 50%. However, I don't know the cause of this fluctuation, so I can't blame VirtualDub for it, I think.

Can AVI_IO do seamless capture above 4 GB, AND frameserv to Tmpeg?
Vdub is very easy to use, and the frameserving works all the time. -

Frameserving is not an issue during capture, unless you're CPU is *really* powerful. Even so, you can still capture with AVI_IO, then process with VirtualDub and frameserve to TMPGEnc.
Give it a try. It was simple to use and install, and quick to download (only 82 kbytes). You will not have to read any manuals to begin using it. The trial version is, however, limited to a 3-file segmented capture. So you will not be able to capture beyond 3 * 4096 mbytes.
