  1. Hey, Sometimes I use clips taken from MKV or AVI files for my movie quiz (cut with AVIdemux). For foreign films I would like to burn in the subtitles in the clips from srt files. I have been able to do this for VOB files (where the subtitles are in the VOB clip itself) with ConvertXtoDVD where you can select to burn the subs into the rendered output file. But if you open a MKV or AVI film in ConvertXtoDVD with a srt file and you select the 'cut' option to isolate a clip and then render it, it doesn't work. So what I'm looking for is a program that would allow me to cut clips from MKV's (with srts or other subs integrated) and render them with the subs burnt in. Thx for your help

You could always try hardcode and cut directly with avidemux. Convert the srt to ass/ssa with subtitle edit and then load them under filters->subtitle.

But I don't think any software can both cut and also keep the subtitles synced. So either hardcode the entire movie and cut or manually cut the subtitles with subtitle edit.

  3. Thx for the reply. Apparently there was a filter in AVIdemux (subtitler) where you could import srt subs but it seems it doesn't exist anymore in AVIdemux 2.6 because it's time based instead of frame based or something. Pitty, coz that would have been helpful. But I will try with the ass/ssa sub conversion and check that. Thx.

The ssa/ass subtitle filter is back in latest avidemux 2.6.1. It was removed in 2.6.

edit: But the srt filter is gone as you already mention....
