Hi, I'm authoring a DVD which contains some video files with same aspect ratio, bitrate, frame size, audio codec, etc.
The DVD structure is: one VMG menu and two menus and 6 movies in a VTS.
My questions are: do I really need to have a VMG menu in this case? How important is a VMG menu in DVDs like this?
It's specially annoying when I'm playing one of those movies and press "menu" button on my DVD Player and it links to the root menu in the VTS and not to the "Main Menu" which is the VMG menu.
So, may I just have one VTS, and make my Main Menu the Root Menu in that VTS?
Thanks in advance.

Sure, it all in label and structure, how you link it, it is not needed, but who knows, there might be DVD player out there that needs to jump from first play into VMGM first or so, I'd always keep some stereotype structure ,
beware one thing, remote controls have most likely two menu buttons, title menu button and root menu button. There are called top menu and menu or whatever, so even if you do not have title menu, you should have one dummy menu marked as title in WMG with link straight into your root menu in VTS. Dummy menu or dummy PGC is something that contains VM commands only, no graphics, user is not aware of those and you can label it as title menu , for example. -

My DVD remote has a "Menu" button and a "Title" button, which also works as a "Resume" button. I hadn't realized that it links to VMG Menu. I will test it on my DVD.
I didn't know about dummy menus, i'll see how they work in DVD lab.
That instruction would be really useful in cases like mine where I don't want to jump to VTS menu but to VMG Menu.
Thanks folks. I'm going to see how I can do those things in DVD lab. -
If you use DVD Lab and put each movie in its own VTS , than it will create a structure to go through WMG to your main menu.
Do not use more than 8 VTS as it will create a compilation error. Known bug in DVD Lab.
If you are a little familiar with commands than you can import you work into PgcEdit and fix it there. -
if he uses same video format, aspect ratio, why not use just one VTS, in case of play all, if there is each video in different VTS it will make laser head go from the end of one title to VMG (beggining of DVD) and then back to the beggining of other title, creating sound and pause
