  1. Computer is working perfect. Has sound, has video, has codecs. When playing a interview on a DVD it is black, no sound. But shows frame rates, all info, sound is showing a flat line. There is a VTS_0_0 which show a title menu. There is a VTS_1_1 AWHICH SHOWS A 212 mb video file and 18 chapters, but now video can be seen. When it was copied, could it be missing more VTS_X_XX to play this video. Any help will be appreciated!!

Try play with VLC Media Player. It has builtin codecs.

If Baldrick's suggestion has not worked, how many minutes should this interview be ?

Do other dvds play fine in your PC ? What are you using to play them ?

  7. Those are the files on the DVD..........I think there should be more VTS's?

  9. When it plays, you can see the bar run across the botton and when I go to properties, it shows 29 frams a sec and all info. Also adjusted contrast, brightness, et all

What you can try is to rip that dvd to your HDD. The use autogk, or similar, to create an avi of that 220 meg vob.

My guess is that you will still have a blank video file - no picture and no sound.

  12. Thank you, I will do that. Also, Could this have been caused by a bad copy from original or the original corrupt. Is it possible to go to the original and see if during the copy process there is missing VTS files like VTS_2_2 and VTS_3_3. If not, thanks for all your help. Great forum,

    A bad copy ? Unlikely.

More vobs ? Well you can check the original but a vob will have a maximum size of 1 gig. A smaller vob suggests that this is the only one. But like I said earlier the run length appears very short. I would ask you to load the vob in to mediainfo, select text mode and post a report here.

If you have access to the original you can obviously check to see if that plays. It is possible that something odd happened in the original authoring process.

You can upload the vob to some file-hoster. We can then download it from there.

The run time for the vob is a little less than I expected but not too much to be concerned about. But what is important is how long you expected the dvd to play for. I think the 1hr 44 is misleading as the ifo/bup files should not be inspected by the program.

  21. I am getting Rockspace Cloud Service with 250MB per upload and will put all files for you to view or download. I will put the url link to the file here. Thanks......Oh, ya, the video is or has to be over an hour as it is a interview of a client. I actually only need the audio...LOL

The half height resolution of the video source 352c480 suggests that it was made by a DVD Recorder. Perhaps the disc is unfinalized or something went wrong in the way it was copied (ie. someone tried the ugly method of dragging and dropping files to "copy" it and mistakes were made).

With a 'chapter' every six minutes you are probably correct about the dvd-recorder.

All that does is ask for a user-name and password.

I would have thought that cloud storage is just for you (unless you want to share that info in a public forum - guess not). You need to upload to a standard file-hoster. But this is probably a waste of time. If that video is over one hour then even at the lowest possible definition using a dvd-recorder the file should be bigger.

You would be better off at this stage in contacting the person who gave you the dvd and get another - working - copy.
