Size differ on MakeMKV vs ClownBD blu-ray rip, why?

Yesterday, i discovered that my blu-ray player (Oppo 93) didn`t support Dolby TrueHD audio in a MKV container so i read the forums and found out that i can rip the blu-ray into a M2TS container instead which supports Dolby TrueHD.
So I used ClownBD and i saved the exact same streams as i did when i ripped to MKV (video + English Dolby TrueHD) but to my surprise the output file was almost 5GB larger than the MKV file of the same rip.

Can anyone explain why the size differs this much?

When you "ripped" to MKV what software did you use

I just saw you used MakeMKV. What settings did you use in each?

You could open the m2ts with tsmuxer and check so it really contains same streams as the mkv.

In MakeMKV i simply saved the video (main movie) & Dolby TrueHD audio without any subtitles.

Then i opened the MKV file in ClownBD and there were only two streams avaliable to save (naturally) so i did and after remuxing is finished i have a M2TS file that is almost 5GB larger than the MKV file..

Different wrappers, (containers), have different overhead, but not 5 GB. Use Mediainfo to see what the results of the remuxes are. For example, TrueHD vs AC3, number of streams, bitrates, etc. Just like Baldrick said.

Have a question regarding extracting the Dolby TrueHD audio in ClownBD,

In the picture below the Dolby TrueHD is selected in the left side menu but in the right side menu under "audio/type" there are 3 different types selected. Should i de-select the "AC3" & "AC3 Surround" if i only want to keep the Dolby TrueHD audio or should all 3 remain selected?

This could explain why my previous rip differed so much in size, i didn`t de-select the other 2 types.

Just an update on my previous question, i have now ripped another 3 movies with the help of ClownBD and all of them come out just a little larger than a MKV of the same rip, roughly 1GB larger and they playback just perfect on my Oppo with full HD audio. The only downside i can see ripping with ClownBD vs. MakeMKV is the lack of chapters in M2TS containers but on the other hand you get support for Dolby TrueHD so it weighs up.

Great piece of software indeed.
