I posted this question to this form on the 11th, but it's disappeared...
Sony VMS 11 Platinum
As I'm going though it, adding subtitles, I'm adding timeline markers to enable me to identify significant moments in a video.
That task being (eventually) completed, I will need to split the video/audio track at various places to add in other video material, which will shift all the following video to the right. When I do so (unless I'm missing something here?), all the markers right of that splitting point will stay where they are on the timeline, and so no longer relate to the events in the actual video.
Is there any way to either link markers with particular frames on the video, so they shift when the video is moved? Or any way to reliably shift all the markers to the right of that splitting point the same amount as the moved video?
The only work-around/cludge I can think of is to create more subtitle clips in a video track, with the text I would otherwise put into the markers and, when I move a split-off section of the video, ensure I shift those to the right by the same amount (then hide/delete that track for the render).
Any bright ideas?
Thanks

In Vegas, I think you just line up the cursor where you want the marker, then hit the M key on your keyboard. Vegas, as far as I know, only puts markers on the timeline, but not on individual clips. (Someone please correct me if I am wrong.) One of many things I prefer with Premiere is that it will mark specific points on each individual video or audio clip, so that you can sync clips from multiple sources and soundtracks quickly.

Use Vkmast's method. That way the markers move with the videos when you move them.

Vkmast!
Brilliant. Thank you.
Years ago I'd printed out a SVMS manual (for v6) and read it cover-to-cover. I'd completely forgotten about 'ripple', but as soon as I read your post I knew what you meant.
Ha! That's really going to help.Started out with valve radio, crystal microphone & reel2reel tape recorder with 'magic eye' level indication... -
Thanks to TreeTops too for the confirmation.
