  1. i downloaded some avi files and when i try to convert them tmpgenc gives just a black screen ,any ideas ??????????
    would be very gratefull ,cheers

  2. Would you happen to be doing a multiple-pass encode? Is the black screen after the entire job is allowed to complete? If you are doing, for instance, a 2-pass encode, the first pass does not actually encode any video, it just gathers information that will be used to do the real encoding on the second pass, so you would see a black screen until the second pass started, and then you'd see your video.

    If you are doing a single-pass encode, I'm stumped.

    First Load your AVI, then from Vdub 1.49 select Video > Scan Video Stream For Errors.
    Next Set Video and Audio to streaming, and SAVE AS, save out another copy, then use this in TMPGEnc

  4. also, make sure you have the right codec. Try DivX 3.1 alpha instead of 5.0 and see what happens
