  1. Can any large screen tablet play 1080p vids without stuttering? I'm talking about a vid that is downloaded to the tablet then played.

I think the problem will be what type of "guts" the video has. If its really complex like high profile 5.1 with every option turned on in the encoding it might have problems.

My cheap no name tablet can play 720p files just fine and it can even play a 1920x800 clip downloaded from youtube. I haven't tested a true 1080p clip on it yet but that will be next. (as far as I can tell mine is a dual core but its a standard def screen - yeah I don't get it either but it looks good enough to me)

Your best bet is to start light and then work your way up. Use a profile 3 h264 file with nothing fancy and than make it more complex. Somewhere along the way to the max profile setttings for h264 you're bound to find something that the tablet won't like - UNLESS its a quad core tablet - my guess is those could probably play a straight bluray rip if you had the right codecs installed......

What tablet are you using by the way?
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

  4. Thanks both of you for responding. I haven't purchased any tablet yet. Just looking for one that will play my AVCHD vids from a Sony camera.

I think camera stuff might be more hit or miss. Even if these are "true" avchd files that would play as regular avchd files on a bluray player that supports it a tablet might be more problematic.

Camcorder video has lots of specialized stuff in it and may not be as "pure" as it should be.

I've never tried a avchd file on my tablet.

If you can't get one to play it "raw" you might be able to simply remux it into mp4 or mkv and it could play it that way.

Good luck and try searching for "avhcd playback" and "tablet" together and see what you get.

didn't know we had personal file storage here, but now i do i couldn't find any link to yours so it must only be for personal use.

if you haven't signed up for a mega account it might be worth it. 50GB of online encrypted storage for free! you'll need to use something other than a hotmail address but i know google email works. than you can put thins there and post the link.

  11. Well that vid file was deleted from the 'my files' section somehow. I have it on vimeo but you know they reduced the resolution. http://vimeo.com/50892445
