  1. Hi There,
I am running MS Windows XP on my laptop. Since about a week ago I am no longer able to Prview the Thumbnails of the files of extensions .mov, .flv, mpeg-2 etc. litterally NO thumbnails at all. It is irritating! I have no issues with thumbnails on my desktop. Since then I have formatted the Hard Drive on my Laptop, reinstalled Windows and all my data, but I still don't have any joy.
Any help will be really appreciated.
    Many thanks in advance.

Can you play the video files in windows media player without problems?

You could always try an external thumbnail preview software like icaros.

I can play all the media files without any problems, none whaysoever.
The problem was just the thumbnails.
I shall definitely give icaros software a go.
Thank you so much for your kind response.

I lost my thumbnail preview for unsupported video files which the K-Lite Codec Tweak Tool could usually get working but failed to this time and I tried a software called Media Preview that got everything working again.

I saw the Icaros program mentioned while searching but didn't try it.

I added Media Preview to our tools list. Looks pretty good also.

  7. I can confirm that KLite codec pack helps in generating the proper thumbnail for mkv files.

MediaPlayerLite is just MPC-HC with a adware installer...
