  2. Sounds like a field order problem. Upload a short sample of the source and the resulting MKV file where the problem is obvious.

so i should crop out a small clip of the mkv and a clip of the vob?
what is the best way to do that?

  5. here is a sample of the mkv. you can see the text bounce.
it seems to be fine windowed but full screen you notice the bouncing / shuttering
or you wont see it because its just an issue on my machine

oh, when i watch the vob it's the same thing. windowed is fine but full screen bounces
vlc it much better than mpc-hc

No issues here apart from interlacing. Played in standard windows media player and VLC

Mind you, the subtitles are all over the place - some are down the screen and then the next one is up the screen.

The subs are placed that way on purpose because of the credits rolling.

Most distracting tho. But then most people would never see these.

Use a different deinterlace mode. Try yadif 2x.

VLC does seem to have some problem with the MPEG 2 decoding. I get obvious decoding errors here and there. MPCHC has no problems at all.

  12. i prefer MPC-HC. bluray looks great with madvr and easily setup to bitstream hd audio to my avr.
how do i change the deinterlace mode?

  13. changed it to EVR Custom Pres. and it's much better.
i guess i'll use the new 64bit install with madvr for HD content and the old 32 bit for DVD using EVR Custom Pres.

    - oops, doesn't work like that. the settings change both installs. lame

You can check if mad-vr is dropping frames by hitting "ctrl+j" when the video player has focus. If you messed up a setting and can't figure out which one, restore defaults.
