I've noticed significant ghosting, blocking, and general glitching on some of my DVD Rips. These symptoms seem to be prevalent in specific titles including the Baby Einstein DVDs and some other kid's material. They are 1:1 rips too; raw MPEG2 in an MKV container. I rip with MakeMKV, playback on PC or repackage as .TS for PS3 playback. Symptoms occur on PS3 as well.

Is there something about the DVD format specifically? I've noticed that when I rip as an ISO I don't get the same effect.

I suppose an immediate solution is to re-rip these titles as ISO files but I'd prefer not to re-author each of them to get rid of the warnings and other crap I don't want.

There is no difference between a full DVD rip to VIDEO_TS folder VS. and ISO image. Your problem lies elsewhere.

    And this:

...makes no sense. I thought you said you were making "1:1 rips"?

MakeMKV doesn't encode, but simple copies the video and audio content from the DVD to the MKV container. There is not change in the actual video or audio data. Any differences you are seeing therefore is down to your playback equipment.
