Problem with a Hauppauge HD PVR 2 with a PS3 and my Panasonic Viera

Whenever i try to have my PS3 at a resolution of 1080i or 720p, my TV will show picture for like 5 seconds, and then show black and no sound for like 5-10 seconds and it will keep doing this, making it impossible to play games and record them. It will only always show the picture if i set the PS3 resolution down to 480p, and to be quite frank, i didnt spend $150 to only to be able to record in 480p. So is there something i can do to change this, or should i just call up Hauppauge and ask for my money back?
