I bought an HD PVR a few days ago so that I could record videos at a much higher quality. I have successfully been able to hook it up to my Xbox 360 and PS2 without any problems whatsoever (except for the setup beforehand which took over 3 hours, but that's an entirely different story). However, when connected to my PS3, the quality is a bit...well...the video link below will show you.

This was a similar problem a few months ago when I was using a Dazzle to capture footage, only the quality on that was much, much worse. There seems to be a kind of flickering on the screen and slight overshadow, as it were.

Any assistance would be appreciated. I am using a 32 bit Sony VAIO top of the range laptop. I'm using Total Media Extreme to capture the footage.

try shielded cables, if not use shorter cables, I'd say 6 feet or shorter. also are you using component or composite video out?

I'm using Component cables. In fact, every cable I have set up right now is new. Since the PS3 had the same problem with my Dazzle a few months back when using different cables to the ones I have now, I'm beginning to think there's a problem with the PS3 itself, or possibly a driver. I'm not entirely sure.

It seems to be cable problems.

I use AVERTV to recording my PS3 videos and looks very good.

    Watching Componente record video:

Change the cables (Sony PS3 component).

I bought the official Sony component cables, which cost me £20 and took a while to get here. The difference is startling. All issues have been resolved. Thanks for your help, guys.
