Right now I'm using freemake. I'll put a bunch of files into freemake, press combine and then encode it. It works well, but I'm pretty sure it is combining it first and then encoding it. I'm looking for the opposite. Encoding first, and then combination. Very simple, just a 2 button combo-encode, join.

free is preferable but I'm willing to pay for it too.

    anything out there like this?

    thanks

I doubt it combines first. Because you can't join different video formats...

that's true, but I'm extracting videos from streams on the net. So for example it is the same file ext (flv or mp4), just broken up into several parts. When I play the last clip of the those several parts, there is no sync problem between audio and visual. But if I encode and combine with freemake and the video turns out to be around an hour or more, the lack of sync between audio and video becomes worse as the video goes on, leading me to believe that Freemake combines all of those parts and THEN encodes after the joining.

I see. I guess you have to try encode each and then join manually with some lossless joiner like mymp4boxgui (mp4s), mkvmergegui(mkvs), solveigmm video splitter, avidemux, virtualdub, etc.
