  1. I have two versions of the Girl with the dragon tattoo, version one is a DVD screener with 5.1 dts and it plays fine on my PS3. The other is a BrRip which has AAC audio and the cinavia protection kicks in to mute the audio after about 10 mins,is there any way to remove the AAC audio and replace it with the 5.1DTS audio and if so will that beat the cinavia ?

  2. The great experiment...I don't know if this would work but you can demux dvd with PgcDemux.
Then you can use tsmuxer to isolate hidef video.
Then put choice of streams back together...I do wonder if the streams will be the same length...and if the dvd audio has the infestation too.

  3. Like I mentioned in OP the dvd screener version plays fine on my ps3 its the hd version that stops due to cinavia. My reasoning behind this is that the dvd screener version has the original 5.1dts sound track where as the hd version has had the audio redone to aac 2ch ( not sure if I am right but once the sound is redone the audio watermark "cinavia" is changed and the ps3 stops audio playback )

The only other film with cinavia present that plays OK for me is Bridesmaids and this also has the original 5.1dts track.

Thanks for the links I will try it out tomorrow

How the audio was encoded is immaterial. The Blu contains cinavia, the DVD doesn't. Thus, the audio sourced from the BD will stop while being played back. Simple as that.

As Steve said, mux the screener audio with the HD video and see if it synchs up.
What exactly is rotten in Denmark?

  5. DTS is not decoded by PS3 thus PS3 is not able detect Cinavia - DTS will be outputted on S/PDIF and on HDMI as raw - compressed audio.

This is quite good workaround - use DTS encoder and convert audio to DTS for playing on PS3.

  6. Thanks pandy this is what I thought as long as I had dts cinavia wouldn't matter. So am I able to change the exsisting audio track aac to dts or is that like asking can I change dvd to blu ray quality ?

Cinavia is transparent to codec, advantage (sometimes seen as disadvantage) for DTS is that most of the player devices is not able to decode DTS so Cinavia can't work (unless THEY force amplifiers producers to support Cinavia).

I think that this trick works with previous f/w of 4.11
After that f/w the DTS passthru (to the av receiver) still does not trick the cinavia chip of ps3.

If still works pls post a reply or send me a pm. Thanks!
