  1. i did my first few SVCD conversions with TMPGencoder12, and during playback there is distortion during playback. i've never seen this with regular VCD encoding. i've followed the guides on this (excellent) website. during motion, lines appear almost like trails. thanks in advance for any ideas or advice.

  2. Please, tell me your source reported by DVD2AVI: NTSC pure, FILM 89% or less, FILM 90% or greater, PAL.
    which settings are you using?
I've done a few convertions to play in my Pioneer DV-535 and they worked fine.
Consider to use the default settings CQ 65 for 50min on a CD-R 80min. (Standard screen) or about 80min if the source is letterbox.
Do not attempt to change to frame rate from 23.976 to 29.?? NTSC. Try to keep the original frame rate.

  6. the source is NTSC 29.97fps. 4:3 ratio. i tried converting it with just about every SVCD template in TMPG12. they all give me the lines during motion. i've had good luck with the VCD templates and now the SeVCD and SxVCD templates. i just feel like i'm missing out on some quality by not being able to use the SVCD ones. i'm sorry for any confusion or redundany, but i'm pretty new to this. i really appreciate the help.

  7. did you rip this yourself from a dvd? the lines that you're describing sound like interlacing artifacts. was your dvd NTSC?
