I really like Vidcoder / Handbreak a lot, and use it regularly. However, as I'm in the ongoing process of converting my physical library of DVD and BD disks to my media server (to stream to my PS3 via Mezzmo), I've found that the limitations (really compatibility) of the mp4 (file size) and mkv (not native to the PS3) containers are such that I've standardized on the m2ts container.

In cases where I must use Vidcoder / Handbreak, I usually convert to mkv, then convert it to m2ts with TsMuxer, but it doesn't work 100% of the time.

I've tried all the usual suspects of MediaCoder, AVCHDCoder (can't get this one to work right), multiAVCHD, etc., and none of them (with the possible exception of MediaCoder - lots of options, almost too many) have the flexibility of Vidcoder / Handbreak.

I've also tried comercial packages from DVDFab (7 out of 10) and Xilisoft (4 out of 10), but they're finicky sometimes, and really don't offer the flexibility that Vidcoder / Handbreak provides.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a Vidcoder / Handbreak like app, that converts to m2ts? Thanks!

Have you consider try stream with ps3 media streamer isntead of mezzmo? Might work better with mp4 or mkv.

Well, I don't know if its a Win 7 x64 issue, or my PC in particular (8GB, Q8400), but the last version that worked was 1.20.412. I say "worked" in that all versions after this, up to the last one I tried (1.72.0 - I've tried 16 prior versions) doesn't play DVD vob's right or not at all, and in fact, has overall playback problems. I was an ardent supporter of PS3 Media Server, but I've basically given up on it. I had also in the past talked many times to ChocolateBoy (I'm guessing one of the developers) and we were never able to resolve some of the major vob issues (primarily stuttering playback, deinterlacing and scaling issues, etc.).

Mezzmo is not perfect either, but at least it works relatively well, and has been fairly stable. I did have some issues with the PS3 profiles after version changes, but their tech support has been very responsive, and has worked hard to resolve these issues.
