The program worked perfectly for years. Noe it consistently crashes stating there is an avisynth error. I have reinstalled the program and have not added any conflicting applications that I know of.

You uninstalled and reinstalled I assume? Did you also uninstall the programs that avstodvd is a front end for?
I haven't used it for a while ... I gave up burning dvd video as a colossal pain in the ass and I run linux now so I couldn't run it even if I wanted to burn dvds ... but that solved an upgrade related problem for me once. -

1. Uninstall AVStoDVD
2. Uninstall AviSynth
3. Restart your system
4. Re-install AVStoDVD Installer Package, that comes with AviSynth embedded.
