  1. Everytime I load my video into Virtualdub and then open the Video Compression and go to load the Divx option it locks up any ideas as to why this is happening?

    Thanks!

  2. Too vague. All Divx files? A particular Divx file? Try a different Divx decoder (Divx, Xvid, ffdshow, etc.).

  3. So far I have tried 2 Different AVI Files, its when i goto re-encode them and select the divx compression virtualdub locks up on me. How do I use the other options to re-encode and resize and stuff?

Is there a really good reason why you're married to Virtualdub? It's cumbersome to use for this purpose unless you just cannot live without some of its filters and your last posts suggests that's not your reason. As jagabo point out, you'd probably get further with another program. I'd suggest Xvid4PSP or AutoGK for starters.

Try other versions of VirtualDub (you didn't say which one you're using).

Try other versions of the DivX VfW encoder (sometimes newer does not mean better).

    Try Xvid instead of DivX.

P.S.: are you still using Vista w/ Service Pack 1 ???

Exactly when does it lock up? Can you open your source file and preview the video? Can you scrub back and forth through the video? Does it lock up when you select the Divx codec from the Compression dialog? When you go to configure the codec? When you start saving the video? Do other codecs work fine? Why should we have to read your mind?

  7. Using the latest divx. I am on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit. I am not married to Virtualdub. It's just what I am familiar with. I could try to use the other program. Sorry jagabo, it is when I go to configure the codec. The options come up for me to select which compression method and the minute I select Divx 6.9.2 Codec and configure it locks up. I am using Virtualdub 1.9.11. I have also tried VirtualdubMod,VirtualdubMPG,& Virtualdub64. I downloaded the other 2 programs. Thanks for all the suggestions and helpfulness.

  8. About all I can suggest is uninstalling Divx then reinstalling it.
