does the video quality depends on mega pixel??

hi all

i want to ask about the mega pixel for capturing videos

i have to camcorders

1-sony hdr-sr11 10mpixel

2-sony pj10 3.3 mpixel

Actually

i see no Difference when i record a video

but for steady shots there is a Difference

the question is

how can i get better quality for videos

is there no meaning for mega pixel for video quality

Any ‘Full HD’ camcorder stores video in 1920x1080 resolution, that is a 2 megapixel frame. The extra pixels in the sensor can be used for low light performance, cinematic shallow depth of field, digital trickery like “digital zoom”, and perhaps for detail optimization (processing to remove moiré and false color effects), and of course still images, but all those things don't have an effect on the HD video resolution.

The sr-11 has a bigger image sensor (physical dimensions) and a zeiss lens. Should theoretically be better.

Lenses and sensors are more important than raw megapixels.

Also keep in mind that pixel counts are always exaggerated in digital photography. A 3 mega pixel sensor doesn't have 3 million red sensors, 3 million green sensors, and 3 million blue sensors to make 3 million RGB pixels. They use a bayer pattern of sensors. So the real resolution is always less than the stated resolution.

Foveon sensors excluded. That's why Foveon delivers a much sharper picture.

To be honest without knowing technical details how reading (i mean how sensor transfer data) for video is done it is very hard to answer this question.
