hello everyone. i donwloaded tmpegenc 2.53 today to see if i could get better results when encoding to mpeg2 to burn to a dvd. well, i captured some video from my sony digital8 camcorder and exported it as "dv .avi"... about 30 seconds worth. i then went to load it in tmpegenc and it said unsupported file type??? what the hell. i know it's an .avi file... and when i hit the browse button in tmpegenc, it sees it as an .avi file. so then then tried to drag and drop it in, and it would only load the .avi file in the audio portion of tmpegenc... and would not let me add it to the video portion... again saying unsupported file type. anyone know what's going on? thanks for any help, peace![]()

Hi
Have you tried to change the priority for avi under environmental settings? -
I have a similar problem in that my MJPEG captuerd avi is not recognised by TMPEG but normal uncompressed captured avi is ok. Ive had a fiddle with the environmental settings but no luck. Help needed please.

I frameserve my AVI files to TMPG using VirtualDub.
Download VirtualDub (freeware). Open your AVI. There you can apply any filters you want (works great). Then under FILE, click on Frameserve. I would change the name of your output file (for example: capture.vdr.avi). Then select location to save your MPEG file and use the the same file name (capture.vdr.avi).
Open TMPG. Browse and find capture.vdr.avi. Then Load your template (VCD/SVCD, etc). Then click Settings to ensure everything is all good. Then click start.
WARNING---> TMPGEnc is slow. So after start, make a sandwich, go to bed, dream about the things you could do to Halle Berry and maybe after you wake up, it will be done. -
thanks for the replies everyone. i'll try the virtualdub and see if that works. peace

Try to open the file in either an older version of TMPGEnc, or, if you are attempting to open the file in the current version's desktop shortcut, instead open the file in the exe of TMPGEnc from within its proprietary folder.

Options -> Environmental Settings ->VFAPI plug in -> DirectShow Multimedia File Reader. Right click and select higher priority, move it to the top. This works for me every time. Hope it helps
